About Skyfest
Condo SkyFest Miima-gu Ngaanha (Looking towards the stars) is an annual celebration deeply rooted in over 65,000 years of Wiradjuri culture, community and country. Hosted by the Wiradjuri Condobolin Corporation, this event takes place at the renowned Wiradjuri Study Centre nestled in the heart of Condobolin, a small inland town along the Galari-Lachlan River in central-western New South Wales, Wiradjuri country.
The encompassing concept of Country includes the land, waterways, and sky, including the celestial bodies. Hence, the name SkyFest reflects the universal nature of the sky, uniting people across all cultures. It also symbolises the resurgence of Wiradjuri ancestral traditions and knowledge. Condo SkyFest Miima-gu Ngaanha plays a crucial role in this process of cultural revitalization and healing.
SkyFest embodies a commitment to preserving and cherishing Country, guided by the principle of Yinndyamarra Winhanganha (The wisdom of respectfully knowing how to live well in a world worth living in).
Originally inaugurated in 2018, Condo SkyFest has become a cornerstone of Wiradjuri cultural celebration. Although the 2020 and 2021 editions were regrettably canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2022 iteration marked the event’s triumphant return. Generous support from State and Federal governments, and numerous other sponsors has been instrumental in making Condo SkyFest 2024, and all previous events possible.
The festivities on April 6th, 2024, promise a vibrant array of live music, dance performances, boomerang throwing, Wiradjuri language sessions, bush tukka tastings, face painting, art exhibitions, and astronomy sessions with engaging sky stories.
We welcome everyone from the community and surrounding areas to take our hand and walk with us while we celebrate more than 65,000 years of culture and community.
